This case is defintely going down as one of the weirder ones in my book.
Shortly after I arrived in Miami, I rented a car and made the first stop on my intinerary the morgue. The dead are usually the best source of information when it comes to tracking down their murderers.
The drive was nice, as I don't usually don't get a lot of chances to visit Florida. I rolled down the windows and enjoyed myself. Alas, after too short a time, I arrived at the MPD station.
Upon my arrival, I donned my usual disguise when dealing with cops. A psychic suggestion field that makes me look like a federal agent. Believe it or not, it actually works.
I got past the front desk easily enough and headed downstairs. Why are morgue's always located in the basement?
Anyway, at the check-in, I flashed my badge (part of the suggestion), and signed in as Fox Mulder.

Re: Ghostpsider and the Labrinth
Once inside the Morgue itself, I took a minute to prepare. Luckily, no one was in there at this point. I reached into my handbag and pulled out a peculiar glove. It had little metal plates all over it, each of which had cuneiform wedges inscribed into them. I put on the glove and then headed over to the coolers.
JANE DOE #1, this was the one I was looking for. I opened it and pulled out the slab. I pulled off the cover and revealed the corpse. Not much left, but it wasn't the flesh I was interested in talking to. I held the glove over the corpse and muttered a few phrases in the dead language of Babylon. The inscriptions on the glove glowed white for a few moments, than went dark again.
That wasn't supposed to happen. I quickly went to the next corpse. Same thing. The inscription glowed for a few seconds, then went dark. I went through all five corpses, but in the end nothing happened.
Time to consult the expert. I reached into the handbag again and pulled out the skull I keep in it. I put the skull on the floor and said, "Voice, your Master summons you."
Almost immediately, purple fire erupted from the eye sockets. Within moments, the skull was flotaing in a pillar of flame.
"The glove isn't working."
"Did you make sure to put in the batteries?" He asked.
I ignored the remark and continued, "The cuneiform glow for a moment, than they go dark again. I have not been able to raise a single spirit."
The Voice seemed to be a little surprised by this, as it took him a few moments to answer, "The soul is gone then."
"What?! There is no way they could have passed beyond so quickly. No rites have been performed, they died in violent circumstances. Hell they haven't even been buried yet."
"No, that's not what I mean. The soul was not in the body at the time of death. It has either been destroyed, or is being retrained somehow."

Mangled bodies and soul sucking. Sounds like a nice trip you had down there in Florida GS.
And where did you get those wonderful toys?

"Too serve and protect", somethin' bout that gets a lil' blurred when dealin' with the supernatural.
