How Prepared Are We - The Day Job

Ok, I know that for many of us, investigating and hunting the supernatural is not a regular day job. If it is, congratualtions you have earned my personal envy. For the rest of you, I know you have a regular day job in order to pay the bills.

What happens when these two worlds contradict each other, or worse, collide headlong into a trainwreck into your personal life.

I am looking for personal thoughts, feeling, and opionions on the following matters;

Coping with the daily stress.

Social acceptance.

Friends & Family & the Supernatural

Which wins out? Your livlihood or your calling.

I deal with my stress through frequend meditation.

Your society does not accept those who sleep out of doors at night.

My family is long dead, but if any EVER troubles those people kind enough to take me in on my travels, they will hav earned themselves a foe that will watch the grave take them, of this world or not.

I am one of those who has no real livelyhood as you call it. I go where I feel I can change the most lives for the better. If tonight that is working soup kitchen keeping the destitute off the streets to easy prey available to the shadow stalkers, then the blades sleep.

Family came before the job before, it sits before anything here too.

Mind you, I'm NOT an active hunter myself. I'm more than willing to lend assistance, but any job I actualy need to be on site for usualy means I need to either get a babysitter for a few days, or get my husband to take some time off to take care of our daughter, and that is something that we usualy need to arrange ahead of time.

I find however that a great many of you are either not with a family, or have family who are involved in this kind of thing. I can see how that is a good thing in some ways, and a realy bad thing in others. I mean, there are at least a couple people I've read here who I think could realy use a mommy some times

I don't really have any family. I work a lot, and have an assistant that hold down the fort when I am away. Sometimes she comes with me to movie sets or job sites when I need a hand, but thats about it.

This is more of a hobby that chose me instead of an occupation. I still need to do my main line of work to pay the morgage.

It's my day job and my night job. I work 24 hours a day.

It is good to know that so many of you have made this your regular job. Wonder how it appears on your taxes?

What about those like me, KT, and other who have regular jobs?

That information is classified. And it's a government gig so it's not a big deal anyway.

Have you ever considered a normal life. Just retiring one day to start a family, or maybe go private?

I'm going to do this for as long as I can make a positive difference in whatever capacity that I can. If that means going private, I will.

Family? No. I'm not the type.

This is more of a hobby than anything else. January to the end of March is pretty dead for my "real job" so I can focus on this more.

I've started a small non-profit company (501c3) specializing in paranormal investigation. My team will conduct hands-on research, provide confidential consultation services, and provide 'extermination' services when necessary.

Regarding the tax issue, 501(c)3's are tax exempt. The stipulations as set forth in the U.S. Tax Code require that none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. However, this does not prohibit the company from earning money. While they are able to earn a surplus, such earnings must be retained by the organization for its self-preservation, expansion and future plans.

In addition, it may not be an action organization (i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates).

Our 501(c)3 will be governed by a board of directors that will ensure that our activities follow the mission set forth in our bylaws.

Although I don't really hunt or investigate the paranormal directly, myself. It's more of a curiousity for me.
