How Prepared Are We - Security Inside the Society
How Prepared Are We - Security Inside the Society
We all know that on occasion a random antagnoist, cult, or supernatural threat has infiltrated these boards in an attempt to gain information on us, our personal lives, and our practices.
We also have a fair share of hackers, zealots, and trouble makers who attempt to harass us, tarnish our credibility, and generally reduce our level of professionalism.
How does this happen? How can we prevent it from happening? Is it possible to undo damage that has been done?
I ma looking for ideas and tactics on ways to increase on site security protocols and technology, improved screening methods for new members, and how to recognize potential threats here on the forums.

Lets be honest here. Our only protection on this board is secrecy.
It doesn't take a super hacker to get in here. It isn't a difficult thing to get an account on this board, and it only get easier the more people are in here.
If there is something about you that you don't want the evil mastermind to know about you, you probably shouldn't post it.

Thats all good and true, but we need to keep them out in the first place. I don't think some emmo with a laptop should be able to get in here, more or less some crappy VoTW that has it out for us. Their could be a spy in our midst and how would we even know.

Re: How Prepared Are We - Security Inside the Society
This board has to be public. One of the corner stones of the Society is educating the world that the supernatural is real and that it is a threat - if we hide these boards, we loose that.
Also note that the Agency, the "military wing" as it were, keeps quiet.

Quiet is of course relative.

Maybe this thread should be revisited also?

Re: How Prepared Are We - Security Inside the Society
We need to make the boards secure so only those already here can ask for aid.
We all need to get guns and armors and become equipped with all the latest death dealing technologies you love so much.
We need to start going to extremes to seek out the spies in our midsts, after all, THE SHAPESHIFTERS ARE EVERYWHERE.
We should all live in the same place too, maybe we can get a compound somewhere in Wyoming where we can be left to feed our paranoia.
We need to destroy the Lazlo Society in order to save the Lazlo Society - it's the only logical way.
Or perhaps we should step back and see why we have need for such changes?
Would it make sense that if you are having problems with the open security on a public board, the information you are passing should not be passed on a PUBLIC BOARD?
Posting here is like painting in small letters on the wall of a building - if this is an issue for what you have to say, perhaps you should adjust what you are saying.

Understanding, is not a thing that comes swiftly, but rather in stages, a journey that once begun, must be seen to it's end.

No Mr. Holister, I am not OK. I have not been able to properly meditate since the rescue of KonThaak, and my patience is becoming thinner and thinner. We will speak more of this, and other things when I arrive - things not yet meant for public knowledge, lest I tip off the ones I am patiently persuing.

Ok then. Get some well deserved rest and we will talk more when we see each other.
