Welsh police helicopter spots 'unusual aircraft' wrote:LONDON (AFP) - UFO enthusiasts got a boost Friday when Welsh police confirmed that one of their helicopter crews had spotted an "unusual aircraft" flying over Cardiff earlier this month.
An investigation into the sighting had been launched, they said.
The police clarification came after tabloid newspaper The Sun reported a UFO had "attacked" a police helicopter, following it for several miles over the Bristol Channel.
"The pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit. But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter's fuel ran low -- and the UFO escaped," the tabloid reported.
The helicopter crew had described the object as "flying saucer-shaped and circled by flashing lights," it added.
That description was rather more dramatic than the official police version, which said: "South Wales Police can confirm its air support unit sighted an unusual aircraft.
"This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation," they added in a brief statement, avoiding the use of the term "UFO", or Unidentified Flying Object.
At the time of the incident, the helicopter with three men on board was waiting to land at the St Athan RAF base near Cardiff. The sighting reportedly took place at 00:40 am (23:40 GMT) on June 8.
South Wales Police denied there was a pursuit and indicated that the helicopter crew was never in any danger.
A Ministry of Defence spokesman said it had heard nothing about the incident.
"But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs," he added.

I was talking to Ron about this while he was posting it.
I wish I could get him to say something other than, “It wasn’t near you or Hannah, so I’m not worrying. But rest assured, I’ll have a barrel of 00 buckshot waiting if E.T. shows his face scratching at my door.”
But honestly . . . it’s surprising that they ran the story at all.

Why Ellie? It's not like we're going to get some deep seated philosophical statement from Ron.
Ron is who he is. Honestly, when he says something like this, it just makes me chuckle and shake my head.
Konrad Andreas is at peace. I am something new.

Oh, you’d be surprised at just how deep Ron can get, Konrad. He just doesn’t admit to it very often.
Ms. Dawes, does this mean you’ll try to debunk France and Great Britain? I know there are crop circles that are done as hoaxes, but I believe there might be a few that aren’t explainable by any terrestrial means.

I understand.
I understand.
Ms. Dawes, may I ask you a question? Just what do you consider as valid “proof?” It’s something that I’ve always wondered, as I now have a much more difficult time distinguishing various “tangibles.” And eye witness accounts or video footage . . . well, I imagine I don’t have to elaborate on why those don’t cut it for me at all?

I'll only speak for myself here.
Telekinesis. Just send me across the room.
If it's real, then it's easy.
But it's yet to happen, and I've participated in several trials.
Over the years I have studied some cases that have no rational explanation.
Yet.
And little balls of etheric energy flinging pennies across the room really seems hand-waveish to me.
And myopic.
Discovery of electromagnetic radiation beyond the visible spectrum would have been difficult if light were merely considered to be magic rays beaming from the Sun - or, for example, some ancient theories held that light was beams shooting out of our eyes.
I grew up around monster hunters and followers of Lazlo. Their process was sound and solid and has informed mine. Their methods were irrational. They insisted that magic was the best tool for discovering monsters and protecting us from them. The human brain is an amazing piece of work capable of convincing us of many things and capable of a boundless imagination. But it doesn't lift rocks from tables and it doesn't reveal little etheric entities looking to play tricks on people. Given all that, I admit that some day, telekinesis will be fact, but until then, there's no reason to believe.
I've contacted Natasha in regards to her dermatolography experiments in which writing appears on the human flesh. I'm looking forward to anything she has to share with me. I've spoken to her on a couple of occasions, actually. She reminds me of the adults that were around when I was growing up.
But first I have my own issues to wrap up. Since my discharge from the hospital I've been uncharacteristically sleepy and when I fall asleep I'm having the same night terrors over and over until I wake up in a cold sweat, unable to breathe, and sometimes with such sharp pain in my hips that I can't even sit up. Perhaps I should have stayed in the hospital a few more days. I'd like to take another Vicodin but I've got work to do.

But telekinesis can be faked . . .
But telekinesis can be faked, can’t it? Or so I’ve heard . . .

Not that I'm huge or anything.
It's just that it's me.

To Mr. Skeptic: I already respect you and your views a great deal. You're the first sane skeptic/debunker we've had in a long while who hasn't been a complete and total ass. Point of fact, you seem like a decent guy all around, and I just wanted to say here and now that I appreciate you for that.
Having said that, I have to wonder if you've read Dr. Lazlo's writings on paranormal abilities. Everyone exudes a faint electromagnetic energy, readable by scientific methods, commonly called an "aura". It's through this aura that we perform paranormal feats... Not just Eilonwy, or GhostSpider, but all of us. Our auras help us to shape the world around us through what Dr. Lazlo called "Potential Psychic Energy", or just "PPE". Most of the time, the feats people perform are tremendously minor, not worth mentioning in a respectable psychic journal (such as knowing who's calling, without the aid of a Caller ID device, and with no reason to know who's going to be on the other end of the line).
Now, as I said, we all have auras. Our auras affect others' auras, and they affect paranormal creatures. When one person who doesn't believe in paranormal occurrences is around someone who regularly practices these things, they have a bit of a hampering effect on the person trying to perform the feats. It makes it difficult for a person to prove anything in public, and that only serves to strengthen peoples' non-belief.
Occasionally, a person goes beyond non-belief, into actively disbelieving. These "Nega-psychics" can completely nullify a person's innate paranormal abilities just by being nearby, and their presence is often accompanied by discomfort, headaches, and irritability.
As of right now, it would seem, Skeptic, that you fall under the former category...which means it isn't "easy" to lift you and throw you across the room with our minds. This isn't Star Wars. We're not Jedis. Yoda lied; size DOES matter--or rather, mass matters. We can't just lift you in the air and toss you around just by raising our hand and crossing our eyes. Even if you're not that big of a guy, you're still a human being, weighted down by body fluids, muscle mass, fatty tissues, bone structure, etc ad nauseum. I'd venture to bet you weigh at least 140-150 pounds, bare minimum, am I correct?
I can't lift that with my *arms* very easily, and I work for UPS.
It just isn't as easy as you seem to think it is, sir.
Again, I intend absolutely no disrespect towards you. Just trying to point out why it's not as simplistic as you think it is.

Re: Report: Police Helicopter and UFO have near collision
I appreciate the sentiment KonThaak, sounds like the same can be said of you.
As for my background and understanding of Lazlo's writings and thoughts, I have this to say. At one time I could recite much of Victor's writings. That was a long time ago, however. Still, I'm not aware of P.P.E. counter device. I have various devices for Geiger counting, voltage testing, nightvision, and so forth. But, no, I have no such device that tells me how much P.P.E. I have.
Regarding auras and telekinesis.
Some people are gifted athletes, some are gifted at math. People have different abilities and mental capabilities. However, I have never seen an aura and I've never seen somebody scoot a chair across the room - and I've conducted and observed many experiments. I'm aware of so-called nega-psychics but I never bought this explanation. A major of divergence for me and my mentors was they were quick to fall back on belief and foresake fact. As I mentioned in another post, imagine if we stopped at the belief that "light is just beams shooting out of our eyes".
I was also told, when younger, that many of these powers can be seen only in the field, in active supernatural investigations. I spent 20 years in the military and was a book worm, mostly on the Air Force's dime. It wasn't until I retired that I was able to get into field work. I haven't seen anything convincing yet.
All these explanations of nega-psychics and "you had to have been there" are just too much hand waving for me to believe. I need more than that. That's why I'm here, digging for more.
I'm quite open-minded to the possibility that Victor was correct. Some day, perhaps, it won't be a matter of belief but a matter of fact.
