Returned after an extended Sabatical

Post by Cybermancer »

Good day all.

I was unable to convey certain events at the time as I was immediately caught up in other occurances. Suffice it to say that I travelled a great distance only to have my life put into great peril. So distracted was I that this board and the life I lived before seemed worlds away...

In any case, I have returned.

Just the same, I still might not have thought to come back and post here had my able assistant, Robyn, had not reminded me of this resource. She really is indispensible to me.

While this is a difficult subject to discuss, I suspect that these boards may be one of the few places available to me that I can discuss the matter openly and plainly. Not something I normally do, in my circumstances.

Basically what I want to know is if those of you out there have noticed an increased level of paranormal activity in your respective areas? Or more specifically, what could be called demonic activity. I am especially concerned with instances where these 'demonic' or 'devilish' creatures seem to be in conflict with one another.

Normally I wouldn't be so blunt, even in a medium such as this, but there are indications that perhaps something rather large scale may be occurring. Just what that scale may be has yet to be determined.

Thank you for your time.

Well I know demons and devils don't work well together, and tend to fight if left to their own devices, but I haven't heard anything about any serious conflict between them.

I'll keep my ears open.

I take it you are interested in the frequency of DR1313 reports at the various precincts around the country.

If you have VICAP acess, they should be relatively easy to track down, as we use the same database accesses, adds a lot to convenience.

Please do. Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated.

Reports of any type on the frequency of this sort of activity would be greatly appreciated, although my interest is hardly restricted to any one location or nation.

Perhaps I should provide some background to my concerns.

My first contact with paranormal or supernatural (How I hate those two terms. Neither are entirely accurate. Just because something is rare or operates on unknown or unexplored areas of science doesn't make it 'para' or 'super') activity was back around 1980 when I was six. It was not however, a large part of my life. There would be the occasionaly occurance but they were the more extraordinary for their relative rarity compared to other events in my life.

In the summer of '99, I first became aware of a collective of conquerers and destroyers. A random series of events led to them accidently revealing themselves to me. Some investigation into their own territory showed that they meant harm to all other forms of life. They had just completed a conquest and the process of destruction was also nearly complete. I rescued those I could before doing some destroying of my own.

Perhaps I should have been more circumspect in my actions. As it was, I brought myself and my home... stomping grounds to their attention. Things came to a head in the summer of '06 when my allies and I thwarted a massive attempt at invasion. We managed to deal no small amount of hurt upon our enemies.

After this, enemy activity seemed to subside. We relaxed and regrouped to lick our own wounds. We had been victorious, winning the battle if not the war.

Then recently (within the last 6-12 months) all of these invaders activities stopped. Sure we had dealt them a severe blow, but we were never so niave so as to expect that it would be enough to force their total retreat. So we began to investigate.

Where we are, there at first seemed to be a huge downwards spike in unusual activities. Closer inspection suggested that the usual suspects weren't absent, merely 'going to ground.'

At first I hypothesized that ambient energies were ebbing but I was quickly proven wrong as there was an upward spike in visions. Sources have seen 'demonic plagues' swarming across the land. There has been a fair amount of biblical imagery along with references to both demonic and devilish powers.

We have now seen evidence of a secret confict between two very different forces. One side describes itself as demonic while the other is described as devilish. These 'demonic' forces came to our attention first as they are less subtle and openly engage in violence. We've had direct contact with them on several occasions and less direct on many more.

It is these so called devilish forces that have me somewhat stupified. We have had no direct contact with them what so ever. They act through proxies and behind the scenes. And they seem to be actively opposing the self-professed demonic forces. They've even gone so far as to try and cover up scenes and evidence of activity from time to time. I've come to suspect that they may have been around longer and may even have the 'home team' advantage here.

What concerns me is that I have learned of at least one other... area of influence where the conflict between these two forces has been going on for some time. The power wielded by both sides in considerable.

So before we get too far involved... before we become committed to action... I would like to learn how wide spread this pheneomon has become. Just what are we getting involved in here and just how wide spread is it?

The few early posts are actually quite promising to me, as it seems most of you others are yet unaware of this particular activity.

I remember some mutterings a while back about some sort of demon war occuring out in the california desert.

It was quite a while ago and not necissarily on this board.

Let me do some digging.

Hmmm. Odd. My entire message seems to be lost to the net. I suppose it's to be expected considering the nature of my connection. So here we go again.

After discussing this situation with my colleagues and allies we've decided to investigate this situation further. Our collective thought is that it is better to look into something where it is already happening than stir up a hornets nest in our own back yard. For various reasons, I won't get into the subject of where we're going.

I expect to spend the next week or so preparing for the expedition. Afterwards, I'll be absent from these boards for about two weeks. To say the least, I am going to some rather remote locales. During that time, my assistant Robyn, will continue to monitor my profile here. Important messages might be relayed although I can't garuntee a response.

The idea of asking some of you to come along was considered but ultimately rejected. This is just a simple exploratory mission and we already have about two dozen people going. Enough to split into two or even four groups if required. Plus we already have a wide range of expertise as well as history of working together. Lets also say that the travel expenses would also be somewhat prohibitive.

However, we could still use assistance as we prepare for this operation in the form of information. This seems the most appropriate place for such intelligence. We do have our own experts and all of have had some degree of experience in this sort of thing before. Nevertheless, a wider spectrum of experience is always an asset when travelling into the unknown.

With that in mind, I would be interested in hearing from anyone with any knowledge or expereince in the following subjects: Demons, Devils, Deevils, their relationships with each other, their allies, their enemies, their vulnerabilities, their names, their natural habitats, their recent and past activities, myths, legends, innuendo, premonitions or prophicies. Heck, I'll take tea readings from the slightly eccentric elderly woman from down the street as this point.

Also, if anyone has turned up anything with regards to the aforementioned conflict, please do share it.

Those who can share their expertise in regards to high altitude mountain climbing as well as climbing volcanoes, that would also be appreciated. No, I can't tell you the specific locales.

That's all for now.

I'll make sure I share the results of this expedition when we return.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Good day,

I am Robyn and I will be posting on behalf of Cybermancer for a short while during his absence.

First, he would like to extend his thanks to Miss Solstice for her kind words and encouragement, although he did not have time to relate those thanks himself.

Furthermore, he wanted me to relay that the expeditions base camp has been successfully established and the first investigation team dispatched. As expected, communication is possible but intermittant.

I will continue to browse this site using this log on while Cybermancer is away. Any posts I make will include [Robyn] at the beginning of each so as to differiantiate between myself and Cybermancer.

Perhaps it is a futile notion but I would ask that those with religious beleifs to pray for the successful completion of this mission. If the objective exists, then it is logical to suppose that it's opposite also does.

[Robyn]

I have been receiving sporadic reports from the expedition. The first site didn't produce what the team was looking for, although there were other things of interest. They'll have to be investigated another time.

The expedition has moved on to the next site. Most of their gear is still intact and functioning. Morale is high, in fact Cybermancer commented about it being almost too high. Apparently it is difficult to avoid going off on tangents as ample oppurtunities continue to present themselves.

There have been some interesting finds that might be shared with the Society when Cybermancer returns. I haven't been authorized to reveal too much unless an emergency crops up. I'm sure most of you can appreciate the need for secrecy and discretion.

In one more week, the expedition should be returning with their results to share.

[Robyn]

Contact was lost with the expedition late Tuesday night and has not been regained. This was expected as they area they are entering is prone to disrupt electric and radio activity. There is no cause for alarm at this point in time.

The most recent transmissions indicated that the locals were convinced that the expedition would run into demonic activity where they were headed. These local rumours had yet to be confirmed but Cybermancer was hopeful.

This is a transcript of the last recieved message from Cybermancer. He wanted it passed onto the Lazlo Society.

"Good morning Robyn! Actually is it morning there? I've lost all track of the time difference."

"We've secured and camoflaged our new base camp as well as we can. This part of the mission is too dangerous to leave anyone behind, everyone may be needed. Hopefully the locals won't find it and mess with the equipment we can't take with us. When this mission is over, we'll have to be sure to return to retrieve everything."

"We've sent our last remaining drone into the mountains but as with all the others, we lost contact with it after about ten miles. We will attempt to relay messages back through the automated base camp but we don't expect much success. Something out there is interfering with all our attempts to take a peek. The only thing left to us is to go in person and investigate."

"You can expect us to be unable to communicate for awhile. That is why I'm transmitting all our accumulated data to date with this transmission. I think a lot of it, while not our mission objective, will be of some use to various members of the Lazlo Society. Hold off on sharing it for the time being. I still want to do that in 'person', as it were."

"We haven't had any major calamaties or setbacks to this point. That doesn't mean ill fortune doesn't await us ahead on the trail. Therefore I have some contingencies for you."

"First of all, if you should be unable to re-establish communications with me after two weeks past the expected return date, you are to assume we are all dead. Do not send a rescue party!"

"With that assumption, you are authorized to open the "Avatar" file on Com-Plex."

"I also want you to share this data with the Lazlo Society and warn them of what we suspect. They may not believe you but hopefully some will listen."

"I don't mean to come off all doom and gloom and final scenerio like... it's just that both Chrysallis and Jinx have been having nightmares about these mountains. It puts me ill at ease. Only Hunter doesn't have a bad feeling about this place, but then he never has a bad feeling about any place."

"Share this message with the society. Let them know we won't leave here without the truth."

Three more days until they are due back.

Of course you were missed, Cybermancer. But the rigors of daily life, pressing matters close to home, personality-challenged men not letting me pass by to the grocer’s, and a habit of posters delaying their messages all played a part in what happened. So when you feel up to it . . . please tell us what happened.

My Apologies,

Miss Solstice, if what I said earlier was snarky or otherwise impolite. I had forgotten that very little time had passed by here. I have been through quite an ordeal and was still quite stressed. Still am, truth be told.

I have related my tale in the War Stories section.
