I've been contemplating something for a few days... I've performed readings on my runes three times in a 24-hour span, regarding this issue, and I'm not entirely certain whether or not I'm reading them right.

The Powers That Be are warning me of something, of that much I'm sure... The themes of the readings have been of treachery and betrayal...but those themes could be interpreted as very strong misunderstandings.

It's possible that the Librarian is intentionally misleading us about who he is and who he represents. It could also be that he's the one being misled and betrayed. It could also be that the "package" his teammates recovered will trick them into believing it's something it's not.

I hesitate to say, but most of the signs in my readings seem to have been pointing more towards the first interpretation than the second...but I could be wrong.

I just ask anyone going in the direction of Lawrence, KS, for the intention of investigating the creature in Mary's Lake to exercise a bit more caution than you normally would...

And Librarian, I apologize for exercising suspicion in your direction...but were I in a similar position, I'd expect the same suspicion be levelled at me if someone else were asked to trust something I'd said.

Again, my advice to anyone going in that direction: Treat the creature with the greatest amount of caution you can, and be ready to defend yourselves... It doesn't like guests.
