Why would you want to kill him, I may sound dumb for asking for I have never heard of him, second why is it an impossible endeavour?

Preys on girls.

the only way to kill him is to find his heart which is quite protected and tucked away somewhere unreachable.

Actually, wasn't McDonalds giving those away with their happy meals?
You traded in your wings
For everything freedom brings
You never left me
You never let me
See what this feeling means

Everything that you feel
Is everything that I feel
So when we dream
We shout....

There is obviously a cultural reference here that I am missing.

Nowhere is unreachable. And . . . umm . . . what age group does Koschej go after?

Do you Know where it is and if so couldn't you get a group from Lazlo to go after it and destroy him?

I am sure Mr. Greydawn would be willing to help.

It is indeed impossible to reach nowhere hehe ;)

Younger girls probably exclusively. He seems to enjoy holding brides to be for ransom.

I would not anticipate it would.

Ain't nuthin' can't die is a fact - though it doesn't make any contentions on ease of accomplishing the task.

Only if we can't clue the populace in before its too late.

The 6 billion or so of us could make a rather large headache for anything that tried to lay us low - once we knew what was happening.

Ron, you assume that Evil has not taken that into consideration. Lets say we do manage to alert humanity to the danger. What happens when Evil decides to apply negative population growth, with oh say a nuclear war. Just a few well placed minions and suddenly we go from 6 billion to a few million. Not possible you say, well, I know that Belladrox pulled exactly the same stunt a few millenia ago on another world he tried to take over. He didn't get the world, but he did get alot of energy from all those deaths.

Either that or He would get a but load of help Mr. Caliburn.
Don't forget that there are alot of people out there that would see it as a chance to gain power and evil has a way of playing on the greed of humans.

The lad has a point. There are always those willing to take any opening to gain power. What is worse is that some dress it up to seem as if they are doing it for the public good.

Which is why we have to be vigilnt and expose those who would do such things.

Again, if the world's populace is clued in properly - nothing is going to dare try to mess with us.

he's something of a russian boogie man. and russian mythology is not well known outside russia.
as for why you would want to kill him, the same reason one would destroy a werewolf or a vampire. Koschei is an almost demonic force, who preys on innocent people.
he hid his soul in a needle hidden within an egg, hidden within a duck, hidden within a hare, hidden within a goat, buried in an iron chest under a tree on the disappearing island of Buyan in the middle of a sea. unless the island is found, the goat, hare, and duck killed, the egg destroyed, and the needle plunged into the forehead of Koschei, he cannot die. if one could obtain the egg with the needle, you could command him.

or so the tales go. such a task would be almost impossible because you have to find Buyan, a 'lost' island that appears and disappears at random, home of the 4 winds, located in an unknown sea, ect. then you have to find the correct green oak tree, dig up the chest, kill the animals, and finally track down koschei himself to stab him in the head with a needle. all this against a being with a vested interest in staying alive and possessing great warrior skills.

good luck.

on the topic of discussion though, i much prefer study and research to physical opposition, but i know the importance of both. supernatural threats must be dealt with, but unless you take the time to learn about your opponent, you will be unable to do anything to stop them.

as Sun Tzu said in the 6th century BCE
"It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle."

Interesting note on the island. Reminds me of some of the Mythos surrounding Atlantis. It also reminds me of a few of the island myths around the Bermuda Triangle, and some of the island myths coming out of Japan and the Phillipenes, and around South America. Islands that come and go, and almost never show up on any navigation charts. Often cloaked in shifting mists so you rarely see the island until you're about to runaground on it.
Secrets and secrets, truth and lies, but which is which? Not knowing is the way to die.

Over the centuries I have learned to follow my prey to make notes of their behaviors and preferrences. At times, I have allowed them to skulk around for weeks before putting them down. I have always ended them before they could kill, but learning a beast's patterns has aided me greatly in knowing how to better dispatch the creature.

Lessons learned from this "Hunter/Killer" method of research has also taught me many things about the nature of the Tao. All of my teachers had told me to examine everything and use that to alter my ideas of the nature of the Tao and myself. It has worked for this long, I do not see why it wouldn't continue to do so.

The only thing it has not done is helped me find a release from this damned enlightenment.
The Earth quakes and the Heavens rattle; the beasts of nature flock together and the nations of men flock apart; Volcanoes usher up heat while elsewhere water becomes ice and melts; and then on other days it just rains. Indeed do many things come to pass.

My name is Wei Chen Lung, I was a soldier to Qin Shi Huang. I sought the knowledge of the greatest fighting secrets. I sought the Eye of the Dragon. The Eye of the Dragon has given me the knowledge of the structure of the universe. It has shown me the demons in the fabric of space-time. It has extended my life. The Eye has allowed me to know the designs of the Tao. The only thing it did not tell me was that I would desire to be... well, just be human again.

I have loved and lost more times than any human ever should and I can tell you that Shakespeare was wrong. "'Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all." That only counts for the first two wives. I stopped... I'll never have another.

My purpose is to seek knowledge and to save the uncorrupted. The only thing beyond my library is the hunt. I seek the demons when the appear and I seek the Eye. My hope is that the Eye will make me mortal again when I find it.
