"China Syndrome" is an theoretical event (thankfully) with a very valid core to it, that takes it's name from a movie by the same name.
Anyhow, the theory goes as follows, in the advent of a reactor failure, without the presence of reactor coolants, or controll rods (that is why it could have only happened before the reactor breakthroughs of the late seventies, early eighties), a nuclear reactore goes critical, and teh fuel melts into a single mass, a mass that is high enough to maintain a reaction indefinately with no way to inturrupt said reation. The temperatures during a nuclear mishap are quite easily high enough to melt rock, and the materiels are particularly dense, hense the materiel melts a "hole to china"
In actuality such an event would be unable to make it past the planetary core, as at that point it would fall in the other direction eventually coming to a stop, but the resulting hole in the crust would form a new geothermal "event" of a sort unseen by modern scientists as the magma of the core would have no interference along it's path to the surface. There is also an eighty five percent likelyhood that an any ejecta from the newly formed vent would be hazardously radioactive....
Over the years the term "china syndrome" has come to stand for any completely uncontrollable fission reaction.

Well, Kei, I didn't think it was possible, but after that explanation, I think I'm looking forward to being attacked by bugs.
You traded in your wings
For everything freedom brings
You never left me
You never let me
See what this feeling means
Everything that you feel
Is everything that I feel
So when we dream
We shout....
For everything freedom brings
You never left me
You never let me
See what this feeling means
Everything that you feel
Is everything that I feel
So when we dream
We shout....

Shadowstalker wrote:Ok Soph I think you misunderstood. The comment was that as long as one decenedent lives the AI will stay trapped. Sacraficing any of the decendents will strenghten it more, but it will not be free until all of them are dead.
Angel I will show you the note, and you know exactly who else is a t risk besides you, James, and Logos.
As for how it is tracking you and the other decendents, I think Ghost may be on to something. Oh and as for how to get rid of the AI for good... Well there has been some research that has been being done of late on the ritual that bound it in the first place. It may lead to a way to destroy the Beast as well.
I understood that part but if we keep giving it decendents to sacrifice if it ever does get free then we are in for one hell of a fight beside the fact that it is already manipulating events here tells me that it is gaining strength at a scarey rate.
I could be wrong but that is my opinion. Besides it is easier to protect the decendents that are alive then it is the new borns.

Shad, he knows where we are. We're all basically sitting ducks here. It's not safe to have us together where we're so easy to target. The situation needs to change.

Oh and you can call me Soph. Mr. greydawn calls me Sophoroto when I am in Trouble. So my freinds call me Soph.
I will have a talk with young Soph about this.

atleast you don't have to explain the damage to a landlord.
su's getting really freaked out, guys, i don't know when she's going to calm down fully. she came into my room early this morning crying about how scared she was. i know i've been acting like an ass, but if you guys could do me a favor and just let her know she's not alone on this one please? she'd never say this to anyone, but she's basically still just a kid too.
for my end, however, i'll talk with anyone who's got good ideas about busting these things to oblivion. ron, how easy would it be to get over your way? would ask you to visit, but with hannah's school and eilonwy's stalker, it might be better to keep you there.

Uhm, actually, while my mind was apparently trenched out in the gutter when I first read it, a couple of things struck me... First, this is Soph, who knows better than to openly invite Greydawn's ire on him for making inappropriate posts. Second, that was a frownie, not a smilie. Third, given connotations, there wasn't anything that James said that was really perverted. It got me to thinking...
My guess is that he meant "sore butt" in a more "even when we get our butts kicked so hard we can't sit for a week" sense than a "lol ghey buttsechs" sense.

I am not A bitch...I am THE bitch. And to you, I'm MS Bitch.
