Lazlo Agency help requested on Indian Reservation

Post by Tabloid Hound »

I found this piece in a recent copy of a Los Angeles tabloid paper and I also have a reliable tip off that this has more than a grain of truth to it and has the signs of supernatural activity. I am sending this to the site in hopes that the agency can send a team to investigate;

Enchanted Totem Pole Curses White Man for past sins! – Fort Mohave, The home of the Mohave Indian Tribe, Is a Reservation that encompasses land at the convergence of three states, Arizona (23,669 acres), California (12,633 acres), and Nevada (5,582 acres) and is situated along the Colorado River. This Reservation is one of the oldest and largest reservations in the Country. The Colorado River and the Reservation offers visitors’ year-round, water-related activity and recreation. Spirit Mountain and Oatman Mines are popular attractions this time of year as well, and the Native Mohave are noted for their offerings of art, beadwork and basketry. But something new is now being offered in the area… revenge.

Four tourists (all Caucasian) have been assaulted and injured over the last month, with the latest attack resulting in death. The victims have all claimed a similar story of their attacker when questioned. They each described a man dressed in American Indian warpath garb and a mask (which resembles a wolf) jumped at them from seemingly out of thin air during their trail hike. Each reoprt stated he attacked them with a blunt weapon (described to be a fetish club) until each one lost consciousness, screaming at them in a foreign language while doing so (although one victim claims it sounded familiar, like the Mohave language he hears at the public ceremonies). So far the attacks have been along a popular hiking trail and each hiker was alone when attacked.

The local police investigators so far have nothing to on besides a few vague notes about the attacker. The Mohave tribal council has closed the hiking road off from the public after the latest attack had taken a life. The victim was warned not to hike on his own along that particular trail, but he apprearently disregarded it.. The autopsy revealed he was indeed bludgeoned to death, 80% of his bone content was fractured and/or broken from the assult. The reservation has no offered no real clues to helping solve the mystery nor anything to add to the case. That is except for one of the tribal elders named “Leaping Pony”.

His granddaughter “Cloudy Skies Moving” was available to decipher his statement as traditional Mohave is all he would speak to the reporters and police. And his story was most unique. In his words he stated “The spirits of the earth weep evermore since the white man raped it and took it from them. They weep for countless moons and still they find no release of their pain; only revenge will bring them any peace. The Totem “Barahote” (told to be a Mohave wolf totem god) has spoken to me in my dreams, and he has told me he will endure the sorrow no longer, and now will feed his anger with white man’s blood. His spirit rises from the totem and uses it as his tool of vengeance.”

His granddaughter and most others on the reservation agree that this legend has been around for ages, that the “Barahote” would seek revenge one day. But some of the locals also say that Leaping Pony has a habit of over preaching about his dreams and over exaggerating them. Both the locals and the police say it is believed to be a hoax, probrably a kid or group of kids trying to scare away the Caucasian population from the Reservation. But another Elder named “Grass swaying gently”, who’s reported to have always been very vocal about his appreciation of the tourism has publicly stated, “Why would we want to scare away the tourists? They are our major source of income on the reservation and we genuinely enjoy sharing our ancestry and history freely with those who want to learn.”

The tourism for the Reservation has already been hurt due to the poor economy, and this bad publicity has tumbled profits by 10% in the last 3 weeks alone. The tribe has come a long way over the years. Fort Mohave was once totally dependant on Federal & State programs, but has steadily increased its economic activities in the areas of agriculture, retail sales, and development of resources (like the now defunct hotel and casino, the 18-hole golf course in the Nevada portion, and a 150-space RV Park.)

The Tribal council has been unhappy with police intervention and thier searching though homes on the reservation, but has agreed to help them to hopefully find the perpetrator and get back to their business with the reservation. But as of yet the assaulter remains at large, and if this “Totem of Barahote” isnt caught soon, or worse, begins to attack tourists in other areas of the reservation, the Reservation may be weeping as much as the spirits of the earth as their source of income continues to suffer.

Dont get excited about this one. This is a traditional marketing ploy if I've ever seen one. Getting their name out increases the awareness, and dont you find it just a little ironic that this report comes just in time for tourist season? I’ll bet you all dollars to doughnuts that the "wolf man" will disappear once traffic picks up again. Indian spirit make for great stories and tourism these days, it’s not a paranormal issue.

Update: It seems this is still an issue within the reservation. There was a small article saying that they found kids playing pranks are were blamed for the crimes, but during thier apprehension, another tourist was attacked and beaten. This issue remains unsolved and open for anyone to look into.

Not to sound like too much of a skeptic, or anything, but that sounds like a pretty strong spirit from my experience. My guess would be it's more likely some old ghost leading a group of cultists. If there's more than one, it could explain how there was another attack while these kids were being arrested. The mask could be some sort of spirit conduit, allowing the ghost to give more power to whoever wheres it, like a sort of possession.

Just a theory, really.
