What a mess...

Post by The Traveler King »

We only just managed to chase them off, but they left this place a wreck. Thankfully, the Perambulators weren't damaged. Yours truly is laid up in a hospital bed, though. Damned tough typing with one arm and a heavy bandage over half your face.

They were definitely human-shaped. I'm not sure if they were wearing armor or not (could have been their hides for all I know). They were covered in these intricate patterns and didn't seem to have faces. They do seem to employ technology, though. From what others on the staff have told me, the pieces of gear they recovered look like refinements of certain devices I've seen made by Psi-Mechanics. We've got a nearly complete body (no head) and parts of others.

Oh, we can say good bye to my left arm. I neglected to mention that it was amputated. As soon as what's left heals, I start physical therapy and get a shiney new replacement. Lucky me.

I wish you had called me sooner I have people who may have been able to save your arm.

There wasn't much left to save. I'm sure Mr. Randolph will fix me up just fine. Been looking at photos of what our visitors left behind. Fascinating.

I'm back. Been confined to driving a desk for the forseeable future, but I think I can live with that. The new prosthesis is working out just fine. I just have to remember to replace the batteries every eight hours. I'm not the Six Million Dollar Man, but I can drive a car and put a beer to my mouth (not at the same time-- haha), so things are looking up. They offered to cover it with latex skin, but I kind of like the shiney chrome finish. The wife says she feels like she's married to a Bond villain.

Our visitors haven't been back since that little visit, but then we haven't been doing much field work since then, either. It's been decided that, for the duration, we are to investigate matters on this side of the looking glass. The specimens left behind have been locked in cold storage for now.

Can you give a description of what went through there so don't get caught unprepared if they cross our paths?

It's good to hear that you are relatively okay.

Glad to hear you're on the mend - sorry to hear you needed to get some optional parts.

Have your folks tacked down all that got through yet?

Whatever they were, they've never been catalogued before. Roughly human-sized and shaped. No identifiable facial features. The bodies appear to be covered in some sort of gray leathery hide or armor (we're not sure which) and, as I mentioned above, their weapons and equipment look very similar to psi-mechanic devices found around here on Earth.

There was a rash of magic thefts and of materials recently. Sakura was looking into it.

This much I can say, the intent appeared to be destruction for its own sake. To my knowledge, nothing was taken. Truthfully, I think they bit off a bit more than they can chew, despite the damage and losses we took.

I think its probably a case of parallel thought leading to parallel development.

Just to bring everyone up to speed, this shows when it all went down.
