I know we don't have the time to teach everyone everything, but if each of us reaches and educates just one person, they will warn and educate their loved ones,

By loved ones I assume you mean family, spouse, children etc?

Over my career, I have always tried to leave the simple folk their simple lives.

Way I see it lots of these things are like dogs smellin fear, they go after the source of fear. Might be why so few people have just one encounter and why they normally get worse an worse, the meet a monter, they start to be afraid of monsters, more monsters come to feed on that fear.

Why would anyone want to condemn another person to dealing with all this?

Because, if the majority of people don't figure this out in tme, our small battles won't be enough. Sooner or later the floodgates will break open and everything mankind has ever feared will leap from the shadows.

If mankind still pretends it all doesn't exist - makind won't be ready and it will fall.

And close friends, yes. I am fully aware that there will be initial hesitance, as people don't want to be labeled as they have labeled us... I am fully aware that people will fear being seen as insane, unhinged, and so on.

However, I am also fully aware that Sheldon's right; once a person is exposed, they start seeing more of the world around them, and more of the world around them starts taking an interest in them. It is then only a matter of time before their close friends and other loved ones will share an experience; we can hope it's a positive one, but I rather expect it wouldn't be. At that point in time, they will have the opportunity to pass on what we have taught to them.

By reaching out, we will teach those who will teach the world...

May as well. Not much else to do with it, except steal some flashlights or something.

Just wait til you start hearing voices in your head. Now thats fun.

So druid, you advocate teaching of loved ones about the supernatural. Answer me this then: If you knew that your son would live a happier, healthier, more productive life if he did not know of the supernatural, would you lie to him and tell him it did not exist? Or would you tell him the truth, and watch him get drawn into the eternal struggle of light and dark. A struggle where he will most likely live a life of pain, sorrow, and death. A life where he will watch his friends and loved ones die, most likely in cruel and painful fashions.

Now imagine the other parents who are aware of the supernatural pondering that exact question. What would they decide? More than likely they would lie to their children. Why? Because it is the nature of you mortals to want a better life for your offspring.

My hosts father knew of the supernatural long before Konrad was even born, and yet mentioned nothing to him.

That's not exactly a good example there Belladrox, my father is an asshole. He chose not to tell me for reasons other than my wellbeing.

Ideally the supernatural will become just another ordinary facet of life. Something that's accepted and dealt with like Fire.

"Yeah! Billy Jenkins was taken by a Bogeyman!"

"It's ok ma'am. The exterminators are on their way."

"Thank you so much!"

"No problem, that's your tax dollars at work."

My mother taught me more and more of the metaphysical as I grew older. I intend to do the same with Julian. First, I'll teach him about the various forms of magic and whatnot, then I'll teach him of spirits while he's still young enough to see them (introduce him more formally to my wife's dolls and our dragons), then of the Fey (perhaps summoning a Faerie to wreak some minor mischief), and so on, and so forth.

I'm leading a pretty happy, fairly normal life, though the way you sell it, I should be some kind of miserable, horribly lonely, isolated freak.

If the paranormal becomes widely accepted, it ceases being paranormal, and becomes mundane. If that were to become the case, then Bert's scenario right there may not sound all that farfetched.

I do not know what my parents taught me.

But for some reason they saw fit to have me trained in sword fighting and hand to hand combat. :?

Thanks mom and dad from Summer Camp for Young Ninja.

And if you never had escaped to Moscow, we likely never would have met, my sweet ptichka. And that would make me sad.

That's funny, my father tried to teach me that exact same lesson. It's nice to know our parent's aren't always right.

I remember my mom taught me that deep down, there's really nothing bad about people. People are their own instruments, being used however they really want to. If someone does something good for someone else, then they meant to be good. If someone does something bad, they mean to do bad. Nothing can ever generalise people, no matter how they try. There are as many ways people can react as there are people. But how you act, and react, is the most important to you, so you do the best you can with who you are. Everyone has the potential to be excellent, as long as they don't let others in their way.

How about teaching her that if she jumps in front of a car, don't blame the car? Most people seem to love not taking responsibility for their actions.

At least no more than anyone else here. Or are you going to try and claim that you are normal Ghost?

But I'm pretty sure you've never been worthless your whole life, either. If it's that, or normal, you're more Joe Shmoe than you think.
