Actually capture and torture are options, for those of you not squeemish, although I would have to try to resist. Also an option is getting the information without my knowledge, assuming some of you have the ability.

Ahh shit, talked to much, got to take whatever this damned thing that just popped in out. Thanks for the assist, glad everyone is so brilliant and eager to assist.

and as for enjoying the hunt, the one I am on now I enjoy, it is old business in the pinebarrens, hope people can camp there in peace again soon.

And caliburn, I have said elstwhere, if you are willing to just give up and die to let someone out of this kind of thing, you are a stronger and better man than I, but can you honestly say you would just roll over and die because you got painted into a corner by an opponent? I am going to attempt to regretfully fill the contract, then after the non hostility clause is over, in 2 years, my current client will never have another night's peacefull sleep - he will have to worry about a bullet untill the moment he dies.

I am not in favour of ever rolling over and dying.

I'm in favour of doing my best to make the bad guy pay with my dying breath instead of gunning down a good and innocent man and then waiting until I can go after the evil without penalty.

Taking the shot then waiting out the non-hostility clause (which you know he won't let you live through anyway, right?) is a cowardly and evil act.

If you are strong enough to submit to torture and death to do the right thing, congrats, your a bigger, and better man than I.

Now, if you dont mind, I have a pack of lycans to finish exterminating.

I ain't gonna submit. I'm going to make the evil bastard pay with my dying breath if necissary.

Have fun with that thing.

So what happens if the other guy violates the contract?

With a mage capable of setting up the contract that is being disscused? Not a thing, only a very foolish mage would allow themselves to be affected by a contract that is forceing some one to violate thier code of honor.

I'm thinking more in terms of contract nullification actually.

I don't doubt that this mage is able to violate the contract. If they set it up right and Sheldon was eager to get at The Gentleman he may have been mislead on the tearms, it may be a one side term set in favor of the mage.

I may have a solution to this give me a couple of days.

As long as lawyers don't get involved, should be alright.

Frighteningly enough, I know a mage who is also a Lawyer. Maybe I should give him a call?

Woohoo, back in civilization and have access to the internet.

Hi guys so who is this Thomas Sheldon and why does he want to kill Mr. Turtle?

Hey Mr. Turtle to answer your question you save the one with the purest of heart kill the one who put you in the position and prey you don't die in the process.

All joking aside if I was in that situation and had to choose I would choose myself to be sacrificed and and give the others a chance to live.

Yes it would, and from what we know of the person who made the contract with Sheldon, would you put it past him?

He's got a bachelors in law and a doctorate in theology - he knows his way around these sorts of contracts.

I've got a lawyer, too... Master's in law, Bachelor's in physics, dealt with the supernatural for at least 8 years running, now... Of course, he'd rather not be publicly known, but that's because he's trying to keep a fairly mundane life, rather than be labeled as insane and never being able to find work...

I think I can relate to him in that.

And with a family--the details of which he doesn't want known--he doesn't want the off-hours job. Running all of those jobs, myself (including husband, father, etc), I can understand why. Sometimes I regret getting involved.

And then I look and see the benefits I've brought about in our world, and I remind myself it truly is for the better.

Yeah . . . not sure I can describe my household as a family really. I feel more like a teacher with an aprentice than a father with a daughter sometimes.

On the plus side I haven't eaten so well in a long time.

Should have Katja teach Hannah some Russian recipes.

Her салат оливье (I think it's translated as Olivier salad) and borsch are delicious. The directions are easy, but somehow not everyone knows how to make them tastey. Katja does.

Sasha is a really good cook, too, but doesn't like me telling people that.

Mr. Turtle,

I was in such a situation as your first post describes once some time ago.

I was unable to make the choice, so both perished.
