Papua New Guinea - Bad situation

PNG police in gun battle with human sacrifice cult wrote:PORT MORESBY (Reuters) - Riot police have been sent to a remote mountainous village in Papua New Guinea after a gun battle between police and members of a cult involved in human sacrifices, local media reported Wednesday.

The National newspaper said several people were killed and many injured in the fighting last week in the Finschhafen area of Morobe province, 350 km (220 miles) north of the capital, Port Moresby.

Black magic is widespread in Papua New Guinea, a jungle-clad, mountainous South Pacific island nation where some villages only encountered Western civilization in the 1930s. Women suspected of being witches are often hanged or burnt to death.

Police who flew to the area Sunday said they believed they were dealing with a cult movement involved in murders and human sacrifices to their gods, the newspaper said.

Morobe's chief police inspector, Augustine Wampe, said suspicions of cult activity started in April when a child was kidnapped and police were attacked trying to rescue the child.

"It takes a whole day to walk from (the town of) Sialum to the village in the mountains, where the child was held. The four (police) were ambushed and attacked by the villagers," he said.

"Gunfire was exchanged and one of the policemen was injured in the leg with an arrow. Another policeman fell over a cliff."

Police reinforcements were attacked and forced to retreat. The villagers then went on a rampage killing one man and chopping up his body and burning houses, Wampe said.

Wampe said riot police flown in Sunday were trying to negotiate a peace with the villagers and bring those responsible for the kidnapping and fighting to justice.

At least the proper authorities are taking one of these on. Too bad they let it get so bg in the furst place.

I'm surprised they heard of it before we did.

How many Society members are hanging out in Papua New Guinea these days...

Hard to be aware of something if there is no presence there.

Backward fools, one simple mistake destroys them all.

Fools such as them deserve to be culled from the herd.

I made a mistake there. I was too slow in getting the Spider, and had no idea his weapon could post online. I will not make that same mistake. I'll also make sure to beef up security.

Given the rate of failure lately, Belly Aches must be scraping the bottom of the barrel not to have taken out Voice and gotten someone else.

Seems like it, huh? I keep telling folks that the real dangerous ones are the ones out there keeping their yaps shut.

Yeah, folks like Windner and Khavik... I get the feeling that both of them still have ears on the board. And not only are they too smart to make the same mistakes twice, but they're the ones who're pry smart enough to start anticipating everything we do, even when we ourselves don't anticipate it.

I still say it's a sound philosophy for us to try and act in ways unpredictable based on our past actions...but we don't have an infinite number of things we can do, and they know that.

So long as folks like the fish-man (Bass) and the bullfrog (Jeremiah) keep posting openly, we not only have ways to keep tabs on them, but we know what they're doing. Which is failing. Over and over again. Aside from the fact that they need to be eliminated ASAP, they're hardly worth the effort.

Yeah, we need to be rid of them because they provide a distraction from dealing with the real threats.

They also, might, someday, figure out what they are doing.

Don't sell them short. If their own agenda's can be served by working together they will, and if we become a big enough threat to all of them it might just happen.

by KonThaak
Except we've already seen where working together got them...

They can learn from their mistakes just as we have. All it would take is someone who knows what they are doing (Non-Ron comes to mind) to get their collective acts together and we would have a problem.

The dym's ability to manipulate people, The voice's supernatural minions, Dark's psychic abilities, Dele Morte's manipulation of the largest government in the world, plus someone intelligent enough to use all this ability...

I hope they never get a clue nor someone who can focus their efforts.
