Need some information.

As was stated in the Maine experince thread I came home to a nasty suprise waiting for me. My buddy from the core was with me to help unload the gear he loaned us and to see what I thought of the gun, he has had some encounters with the paranormal before so he was willing to listen to the recount of the fighting. As we were pulling everything out of the van to move into the buinker a massive deformed scorpion thing lunged out of the trees and stung the marine, I started pumping .45 rounds into it as I grabed for the shotgun. the thing nailed me with the stinger, I relized there was a posion as my arms burned for a few moments. I guess I got lucky because the venom seemed to not take effect. After a few rounds of 12 guage slugs the thing bolted, Man for a horse sized creature it was fast.
My buddy was paralized for about a hour, there seems to be no ill effects, he's going to get a full once over at the base to be sure. Going to use the old snake bite story to get the medics to do a toxicology on him. The stinger left a pretty nasty hole that we cleaned and had to doctor up to look like a branch impaled him after falling from the bite. He is pretty good at this espionge stuff, makes me wonder what he did before becoming a armorer for the core.
Any ideas on what I may be faceing? And if maybe mage boy sent it?
It had a long snout and about two dozen eye stalks, there was a small mouth at the end of the snout and a long tounge kept snaking out. It was about six foot at the body's highest and maybe fifteen feet long. It had a very insect like exoskelton, unfortuntately none of the chuncks survived for me to test or send out for testing. the thing was pretty single minded as it attacked with the stinger fast and hard. I think it may be a low intelligence thing, there was no real tatics or finace just pure brutre force. It took alot of visible injury and was not moving well when it di run. If not for the downed man I may have tried to chase it down and finish it. I have not found any sign of it on the one hundred plus acres I have for a testing area.
