Since nobody else has posted anything and I'm up with the twins while my beautiful wife sleeps contentedly ...

This morning (which was December 22nd in New Zealand incidentally) saw my beautiful daughter Hannah marry her beloved Matthew (whom you all know and tolerate as Cybermancer).

I wish the both of them many decades of happiness, joy and love.

Congratulations you two.

You can't believe how happy I am to see how Hannah has changed how she signs her posts. :D

And thanks Ron.

Your welcome Matt, I'm sure you'll take good care of my first born.

I would have posted something on this, but I didn't get a lot of time to sit around on a computer in New Zealand.

PS - it was an awesome ceremony.

It really was. The pride I felt while leading my daughter to the altar was something I am not sure I can put into words.

You have no idea how long and hard we prepared for that moment. Especially with it being a sunrise ceremony. I had Cynthia, Mel and MJ up all night helping me get all the details perfect.

But the look on Matt's face when he was looking at me walking up the aisle, I'm going to remember that happily until the day I die.

PS: Matt, darling, it's my name now, of course I'm going to use it.

Congratulations, Cybermancer, on finding your shrine maiden.
Hannah, congratulations on finding your Knight in shining armor.

I will share some advice I was given (repeatedly) in my youth.

1. Never go to sleep mad at each other - even if it takes a day or two, clear the air and resolve the issue - problems dragged into the land of sleep have a tendancy of taking root and growing there.

2. Remember to remind your partner how important he / she is to you, every day. - I have never met a widow or widower who was upset over telling their lost loved one they loved them too many times.

3. At least once a week take an extra hour or two to build happy memories.

4. Treasure every moment together, not just the happy ones.

May Amaterasu watch over you both and light your path on the darkest of days as she smiles upon you on the brightest of days.

You are welcome my friend.

I am sorry that I have nothing of true value to send.

Gold, Silver, jewels, even steel are merely things - the true treasure you have already given one another.

Two things Shang Li forgot that I would add.

Celebrate each other's successes. Join in, be happy and proud of them and for them. This is kindness and generosity on it's most basic and fundamental level, and is important for the health of any relationship. Master this always, and make sure it is genuine and heartfelt.

Appreciate and approve of your spouse. This is often just as important as all the rest. We often seek the approval of our significant other, in many of the things we do. If you do approve, show it.

Wish I had known this was going on, I too would have looked in to sending you two a gift. Unfortunately, my vision isn't all that wide-reaching, and I've been busy dealing with my own life and family matters.

I wish you two all the best. May the very best of your pasts be the worst of your futures together.
