Free Will and Culpability

Post by Hannah »

So, based upon recent experiences I have gone through, I want to ask of you all what role mind control may play in criminal responsibility.

Take, for example, a person who has had their free will taken from them by an entity capable of such. If that person lies, cheats, steals, rapes, tortures and kills under the thrall of such a being, are they actually responsible for what has occurred?

What if, to survive the attack of the entity, the person voluntarily surrendered their free will?

Should this person pay the price for the crimes that were done?

No weapon ever, in the history of man, has been found guilty of murder. It is the will behind the act that holds all culpability.

But in these circumstances is the person a weapon or some hybrid of victim and accomplice?

That depends.

Which do you think I was?

You've done nothing that I haven't and considerably less than I have in the past.

To forgive yourself is to find me innocent. To wallow in guilt is to condemn me. You can not have it any other way.

What's more you are still acting as Khavik's cat's paw, even after his destruction by tormenting yourself and by association, those who love you. His goal all along.

I notice your sig. The one where you say it is time for your life. Whose life are you really living now? Yours or his? Because the way I see it is you can choose to continue to be the victim or you can reject all that baggage and reclaim all that he sought to strip from you.

This poll cannot absolve you of your feelings. Only you can do that.

Here I was getting ready to talk about what made our situations different . . .

Then I realized I was being an idiot and deleted the post.

Thank you Sis, love you so much.

What's a sister for if not for the occasional kick in the posterior?

Love you too.

You know, in any other family, Hannah would have been allowed to feel a little sorry for herself for a little while, given what has happened.

Sorry this is late.

The sword may cut, but it is the will and arm behind it that determine who or what is struck.

If only my blades were responsible for those they have cut down, but no, they have no choice but to strike where and how my will, my hand guides them to.

Despite your best efforts Hannah, people here seem bad at judging if the poll results are anything to go by.
