No longer a lurker.

Post by Technocrat »

Well, I've come out from hiding, as it were.

For a long time, I've come here as a guest and just read what was going on. I took notes when applicable, laughed when it was funny and cried all the other times.

I'm not a psychic and I'm not a mage and I don't have any special powers at all. I haven't even made the paranormal a formal study, I'm an engineer by profession.

What I am is just an ordinary person that beleives. I keep those beleifs to myself so my family, friends and colleagues don't think I'm a nutbar. Heck, I was even afraid to talk about the supernatural here.

It was only recently that I realized that as long as people like me didn't do or say anything, nothing would change. Doing what I could behind the scenes is no longer enough. It's time to not only oppose the darkness but to step out of the Shadows and be a light of knowledge and a beacon to other believers.

I am not part of the government and I don't belong to some shadowy agency but I will work with others.

I have no powers, but I am not powerless.

I am scared but I am not without courage.

I am not a warrior but I am willing to fight.

I am not a scholar but I am willing to learn.

I am weak knee'd but I am willing to take a stand.

I am not wise but I am willing to teach.

I am weak but not without strength.

I am Bokkai Toyama and I BELEIVE!

Yup, I'm a tech geek. Pretty much if its got wires or gizmo's, I can work with it.

My specialty is robotics and the AI's that control them. Not those big anime 'bots or androids or nothing. Factory stuff, for assembly lines.

Nice to make your acquaintance there Technocrat, virtual as it may be. I gotta ask, if ya don't mind, what made you such a firm believer?

Either way, good to have you here, sounds like you got your priorities straight.

Well, it all started in High School, really.

There were half a dozen or so really talented martial artists at my school. They were always fighting and could do some really amazing stuff. I can't even throw a punch and if I get hit, I scream like a girl! But what these kids could do was just beyond beleif.

Then in my first year of university I got involved in some really wierd magical happenings.

I came to America to finish my education. I found I had to be a little more circumspect about talking about certain things here. But I also found that there was a bit of a fringe and they were always looking for fancy gear to help themselves out. So inbetween school and eventually getting a career going, I've used my talents to make up some gadgets. By far the most popular item are the silver bullets. Even normal people like them for the novelty of it.

Fancy gear eh? I've been thinking about a computer upgrade... don't suppose you'd be able to help me out with that? I have a heck of a time always getting the thing set up and plugging in all this communications junk and peripherals... not to mention the power dying at the worst times. If you could do something there, well I'd sure appreciate it.

Well, a nuclear power cell would probably take care of the power outages...

Naw, I'm just kidding.

I can rig you up a fairly nice system though. Built from the motherboard on up if you like. And I'm fairly good with making all the software communicate within a system too. Computers are simple, you plug everything in, clean up the code and you're golden.

So far as calling me stuff, I wasn't talking to you, skeptic and there's no reason for you to think that I was.

And it wasn't an event that I was (am) scared of, but smallness. Especially of the mind.

Then you must have missed all the posts of Deathblaster, he sort of set a low for what would be tolerated around here. Compared to him, even a brain-fried drug addict would look like a nuclear engineer.

100% true.
I was just curious.

Good. Good. You've come to the right place. We can help you face your fears, open your mind up a little.
But not too much.
At least not at the start.

Yes Clarity,

You may call me Techno as well. It seems that is what the trend is.

I was actually talking about the original Celeste. The new one seems like a fake to me, you know? Although really, I like Eilonwy better. Hopefully Ron doesn't decide to shoot me or something! :(

Hi Technocrat,

My father doesn't have much of a sense of humour, but I think thi is one of those rare times he's using it.
