Not Me

Keep lively people . . . my reflection made a few faces at me and called me a Heretic when I got out of the shower.

He didn't stick around to chat, hopefully my punching the mirror left him all broken up.

I hope this is our opportunity to put an end this asshole.

I was reading Shakespeare when . . .

I was reading Shakespeare’s Hamlet when a feeling of malcontent worked through my body. I listened; everything seemed in place. The gentle whir of the shower upstairs, Hannah tapping her pencil against the table, as was her custom when figuring out a particularly difficult math problem, and the creaks, claps, and burrs of a house settling toward night. I bit my lips and marked my spot before shutting the book and headed upstairs. My face reddened as the shower murmured to silence and sounds of a body walking around.

But I felt this was important. “Ron?” I tapped on the door self consciously. “I’m getting a bad feeling . . .”

A roar of surprise and a crash, followed by the piano concerto of glass falling to the floor instantly wiped away any feelings I had of contrition. The door yanked open.

“Wie, safe room, quick! No, the bigger one!” His dampness wet my entire front as he shouldered me and dashed down the hall and leaped the stairs. Hannah’s exclamation of surprise was drowned by his echoed warning. He locked the vault door behind us and armed himself faster than he had ever done in my experience.

We waited in choked silence as the soft buzz of interior cameras checked the house.

I don’t think any of us got any sleep that night. Hannah stayed home from school the next day.

You know Belladrox, towards the end of his stay, could do something like that. He could make my own reflection talk to me.

Spooked me out. :?

Now he just makes you speak to yourself.

Not_Ron is completely different though.

He likes showing up in mirrors, pulled me into one once.

But I was asleep the previous time.

Wie and Hannah can testify I was very much awake.

He's learned a new trick or two about the waking world.

Great. Hope I don't get a demonstration.

I hope he tries the drag me into the mirror again . . . I want to see what happens if I break the mirror when he's halfway through.

That probably depends upon what is on the other side of the mirror.

Hopefully something that thinks he's tastey.

I thought you were going for the interplanar oh-shit-I-can't-find-my-way-back angle.

I was hoping for the catch-him-half-way-through-and-hope-he-can't-pull-the-pieces-back-together angle actually.

Same vein, but doesn't sound very tastey :)

No, but I can hope that something nasty would chew up the parts left sticking out on the far side of the mirror.

You've never been awake when he pulled you through, correct?
Do you think it's the dreamstream on the other side?

I don't know what or where the other side is . . . but the tought of leaving his lower torso there and having his upper torso where I can practice my marksmanship on it is rather appealing.

Appealing sure, but is it likely? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

I mean it just might be you break the mirror and nothing happens, except that you're on his turf all of a sudden.

Damn I think I know what he may have done, thou I can't swear to it.
Basicly Mirrors have always had a legendary history of being gateways, or passages to other places.
I think Not Ron may have been learning a few tricks with the Boon. It is able to open gates, and possiblly do other things.

Umm... Not Ron? You mean like an evil counter part of you? Inside mirrors? Why does that sound vaguely familiar? I think I remember a legend or something about that. Not sure.

Not Ron is a....How do I explain this. He is a Living Nightmare escaped from Hannah's mind. And he is out to cause as much trouble as he can, for Ron, Hannah, and anyone close to either of them.

Still an evil clone inside of a mirror is sounding damn familiar. Can't get my finger on it though.

There are many legends of situations like that.

You aren't the only one who thinks it sounds familar, DroopyDawg. Keep us posted, Caliburn.

I'm not the expert on these things, but I figure if half of him is on one side of the mirror and the other half is on the other side, breaking the mirror isn't going to be pleasant for him.

Certainly is a reasonable conclusion.

I just ponder the alternatives.

Hi Everyone,

Wie wanted me ta tell my version of what happened.

I heard a crash upstairs and Pa ran down stairs in his towel with Wie over his shoulder yellin' at me ta get inta the Panic Room.

We stayed up all night.

Hannah

PS: I'm not sure what Wie thought I would say.

Evil clones and mirrors? Sounds like Pendragons area of expertise.

I wouldn't say clone, more like inspired by the origional . . . at least as I understand it.

This thing was somehow created in Hannah's mind.
