The Egg Hatched.....Send Help!!!

No time to explain.....

That damn egg hatched....some sort of demonic dragonfly.

It stung Duke and injured Rourke & Derik.

Carter can't identify the species or the poison affecting Duke. He may not have long.

It tried to make off with Molly, Duke stopped it.

It fled into the forest. I plan on going after it....but I think its gotten bigger.

Send help.

Who's available that can get there soon?

[Amy and Mitch, here.]

We would go, but that sounds more to do with heavy combat and less to do with investigations... In other words, out of our league.

I'm sorry, Mr. Holister, but we'd just be in the way.

If its heavy combat, than I'm your man. In a manner of speaking. My hands have finally healed up (long story), and I can be there in a flash.

Send me a PM with any relevant info.

I tracked it to the deep woods, near the old mine. I also discovered a few corpses along the way.

Duke really needs a good healer right now....Carter still can not id the creature or the venom.

Derik has a broken arm...Rourke has a few broken ribs.

We really need help with this one. I don't know what to expect, if its gotten itself into that mine. This might be extremely dangerous.

Wait....

Gotta run...its attacking a farm.

Try raid.

Seriously.

It might be big, but it might be regular.

Wait . . . a mine shaft?

Insects have been a subject that has eluded me for a while. Is that . . . normal . . . for them? Don’t go after it, Ben; not yet. Please.

I . . . do not like this. Not at all . . . .

Update...

The damned thing killed Jasper Finley last night, and flew off with one of his sheep.

The death toll is up to three so far.

Duke is alright. Molly did some glowy hand touch and cured him.

Carter still can't identify the creature.

I did manage to get a shot off at it, but I think I only winged it.

It bled, so I beleive conventional firepower may work.

If your coming GS, get here fast.

Do we have any habits yet? Nocturnal/Diurnal . . . Ambush/Stalking Predator . . .How does it kill? Etc?

by Holister
From what I can tell...Nocturnal.....quick strike predator that attacks with pincers and a stinger like tail that injects some sort of lethal toxin. It also attacks with a screech that seems to stun its prey before attacking in close.

I may be over or under estimating its abilities, but I am no crytozoologist.

I know its a carnivore...but how much can it be eating?

Is it still getting bigger?

Is it trying to take the bodies with it?

Some insects implant their larvae into dead or dying bodies.

Do we know where this one came from?

Aparently an ominous sized egg.

Shoulda made an ommlette Ben.

Where as in geographically speaking, too.

Dragonflies come from the water.

Lots of bugs do.

Or from the soil.

Or from decaying organic matter.

He mentioned dragonfly specifically.

Dragonflies don't have pincers and stingers - that sounds scorpian like.

Posted: Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:40 pm
by Kolya
Then does it have an exoskeleton?
Scorpions molt.
And if it's growing, this one may have to as well.

Drgonflies don't grow after they reach adulthood - but they go through a larval stage between hatching and adulthood where they grow dramatically before transforming.

In any case, it's gotta go splat befor e it reaches sexual maturity.

It looked like a dragonfly with pincers and a stinger.

I don't think its getting an bigger. Looks like it's about 8 to 10 feet long with a 15 foot wingspan.

The egg appeared after that nexus flare up on the Solstice.

Yes...it is carrying its prey away. Carried off a park ranger last night.

It looked like he still alive when it happened.

I let off three shots, but it once it got airbourne, it was incredibly agile and dodged two of them.

By the time I tracked it back to the mine....the screaming had stopped.

Carrying off prey not good.

Means it either intends to eat them, or wants to use them to feed its young.

Could be a shapeshifter mage stocking up on zombie parts.

Posted: Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:04 pm
by Holister
Oh please no....

I hate zombies.

George Romero should be be dragged off and fed to cannibals for all the nightmares he gave me.

As for the bug...I am fairly sure its a bug...a demonic bug from a lower plane of existance...but a bug none the less.

I really miss my egghead at times like this.

But I don't miss my arsenal.

I suggest shotguns - the spread of the projectile should make hits easier and while the main exoskeleton may be too tough, should still shread the wings.

Posted: Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:13 pm
by Kolya
And then finish with a lot of fire.

Posted: Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:19 pm
by Holister
I thought the shotgun as well, but when it was carrying of a live captive, I didn't want to risk hitting the captive with excess shot.

Napalm if you have it or can make it.
