If I recall correctly, we're talking one of the French Paras involved in supressing the Algerian independance movement.

If you're referring to the current page of that comic, that's not an evil double... He's having a conversation with his inner sadist, so to speak. It's just the artist's way of depicting the whole "inner dialogue" thing.
