And Kolya's trying to claim that I think you all want to just kill everyone, and damn the facts, which ISN'T what I'm saying.

When did I try to claim that you think that?

Easy guys. This is a discussion forum, not a fencing competition. You don't earn points by taking each others words out of context.

So they have this every year. Can we get someone there an RSVP for next year? Or maybe someone sensitive to the psychic realm over there and read it?

I do not like it when there is confusion around me.
Or when people put words in my mouth.
If angel bothers to reply, I will clear up her confusion in Private Messages.

To answer your questions, I can't really offer any help in this situation.

Kol: You're just adding SO much to the thread. Anything else I'm no longer going to argue about.

I still say whoever this person is is probably just performing a memorial to honor his memory, and would have most likely made some type of action beyond that if he was doing anything unseemly. But if you want to just meet him for curiosity's sake, join the rest of the free world.

I don't want to meet him. I want to know what's going on.

I think finding out what is going on would eventually require meeting him.

I agree. But there's a lot more required than a handshake and Starbucks. I want to know things before meeting.

I think what Kolya means is that it not as simple as ringing the guy's doorbell and asking him to explain himself. We deal with mages a lot; if this guy is doing something sinister, you have to investigate him before you approach him. At the very least.

I doubt that anyone thinks things are ever that simple. But to be able to evade investigation this long means that he's just that good. Seriously, with as long as this has been going on, the world might have ended about five times by now. That's why I don't think it's really as bad as everyone's trying to make it sound. Besides, isn't everyone around here fully aware of "honoring the dead"?

No one is trying to make it something it isn't.
That'd require knowing what it is in the first place.

And this type of stuff has been going on for thousands of years. It's a wonder the world hasn't come to a flaming end yet.

I am fully aware of what honouring the dead means, yes.

Could be he isn't trying to end the world so much as hold the door open for the one who will when the time comes.

Most definatly, though moving one to protect it from grave robbers or the dreaded N-mancer is perfectly acceptable.

You think that's why he's been moved? in that case, maybe the visitor is just trying to protect his body from being used. That might explain so much.

So is this guy perhaps soem sort of guardian then? We need to know that as much as the contrary . . . maybe there si a plot to do something with Poe's corpse that needs to be stopped.

A . . . guardian? An ally to our cause?

A . . . guardian? As in, not simply an admirer, but someone who actually defends the gravesite from a danger? Perhaps this person needs help? If this is a . . . “family tradition” to keep a reoccurring danger at bay, they may need help . . . .

The fact of the matter is we don't know, and this grave's resident has a reputation for the macabre that makes not knowing troublesome.

I'm more interesed in what assumptions other people who might be trying to conduct a graveside ritual are making about him based on his writings.

I'm also worried that they may be correct.

As possibility, perhaps the man just pays his respects each year and checks to make sure the grave is not vandalized?

Although with the collective unconcious having had been influenced so heavily by Poe's works, those particular remains could be put to use in ways that I will not elucidate here, but think of the power purported to be in the relics that contain the remains of those the church calls "saints", and remember how much of magic relies on the belief.
