Some of them are pretty good. Ask the guys that attended my training camp though. I served up good grub in the morning and at night.

I won't deny there are some good ones, especially these days.

But there are some folks who just eat the bars and the pouches and the stuff and try to avoid real food in favour f those bizzare chemical concotions made by DARPA.

There are support groups . . . but first you have to admit you have a problem.

Alright, I'll admit that the lobster was good.

But then you had to go and find some way to add pasta to it as well. I couldn't look at a dish of spaghetti for a week after.

You guys needed to store energy at night so you had it the next day. Now you can't tell me you didn't like the Breakfast Casserole!

The casserole was good.

It was just the pasta that got old.

Never had MRE pasta Ron, so i'm not sure whether it was or not.

Breakfast Casserole

1 lb. bulk sausage

8 eggs

8 slices bread

2 1/4 cups milk

1 tsp. dry mustard

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

In large skillet, brown sausage; drain off fat. In medium

mixing bowl, break and beat eggs; add cheese, milk. mustard

and salt, mix thoroughly. Break bread into pieces (about crouton

size). In 13x9 baking dish, layer bread, then sausage. Pour

milk mixture over bread and sausage. Refrigerate overnight.

To bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees and cook for 45 minutes.

Cut into squares and serve warm.

Note: Bacon or ham can be substituted for sausage!

True. Although I think that would overpower the flavor of the other stuff.

I prefer my eggs to be scrambled on very low heat over the course of 20 or so minutes with loads of butter.

Just to add my opinion on eggs. I like them boiled, not like traditional boiled eggs in the shell. You crack them open and poor the egg into boiling water. It’s actually rather tricky to keep the egg together but once it’s done there quite delicious.

As a guy who took a cooking class in high school to get out of having to take another PE elective...

I believe that's called "poaching" the egg. Add ham, an english muffin, and a sauce that I can't remember the name of but do remember making myself with no help from my group, and you have Eggs Benedict, one of my personal favorite breakfast items.

Thanks for the breakfast casserole recipe, Bert! I used to only get that stuff on the caroling party near Christmas in Kansas City with the blind community, but noone was able to ever get me the recipe...

As for me, though... Fry up some potatoes in one pan, fry up some bacon and sausages in another. Once the second pan has a good amount of grease in it, fry some eggs to your preference (I prefer overeasy). Chunk the bacon into the potatoes, then grate cheese over them. Place the eggs fresh from the pan on the cheesed potatoes (to melt the cheese thoroughly), and serve the sausages on the side. Serve with toast or English muffins, as to preference.

The problem is it's a rather greasy breakfast. It's good, but eat it too often, and it wears on you fast...

I'll try the breakfast casserole on Lex if I'm off again tomorrow.
