Ok.....my resources ran out while I was laid up. I still got my AK-47, my M-16A1 w/the M-203 40MM attatchment, I still have the Cytek .50, my handy 12 gauge pump shotgun, and my .45 1911 modified.

What else do I need?

Body armor and a tinfoil helment to prevent being mind controled , seriously body armor. Might I recomend the Dragon Skin in at least class IV? I have purchased it for my employees who have to deal with security issues and kiddnapping attempts. It has saved three of them from an early grave, one was hit with a .44 mag at point blank and was brusied a bit but otherwise unharmed.

Dragonskin armor has a design flaw, it is particularly vulnerable to oblique angle hits. In order to protect against oblique hits, try a 7 layer kevlar weave, impregnated with liquid armor. The vest is still lighter than your standard class IIIb tactical vest, and protects better than a full class IVd vest with trauma plates against any known small arms fire. Expensive solution, but when blending in isn't a concern, I like a vest that I know can stop anything I am likey to face.

For weapons, they almost all have their own aplications, I tend toward either totally covert, or a medium to heavy assault/support hybrid, like the 249, or the modified saiga I was asking Caliburn about in another thread. The AA12 is nice, but they are a bit bulky for the ammo capacity (nothing says "go away" quite like a 10 round burst of triple 0 buckshot though.)

I do actually have a Class III Ranger Actical Vest that serves me quite well. I opted for the removable ceramic/steel inserts and a costly titanium mail lining added to for an anit-knife/claw feature. That was expensive to do, but in the long run was worth every penny.

As for weapons, being a LEO, I must abide by state laws abot the types of firearms I am permitted to possess. I don't want to overstep or abuse my authority. So a few semi-automatic assault rifles are ok. Shotguns and pistols are common place. Military hardware is OUT OF THE QUESTION. I had the ATF show up a few months ago and "reclaimed" some of my collection.

Apparently they read these sites for just such a reason so careful bout what ya'll say about y bang bangs.

Anyway, I still have my .50 rifle because it belongs to my stationhouse.

Anyway...the .50 ammo is hard to find b conventional means. I haven't had any ammo for that puppy in months. Used my last round on that Dragonfly thing me and GS took care of.

Interesting that they tried to take your .50. Unless it is fully automatic, all of the .50 cals I have encountered were civilian legal - the only difference between a "hunting rifle" and a "sniper rifle" being the species of the target after all.

As for anyone coming after my weapons, all of my papers are still in order, and I do have all of the appropriate liscenses for all of my firearms, as well as the explosives I use.

A few states have made attempts to get .50's of any configuration specifically banned or get .50's classed as "Destructive Devices" so they are not civvie legal at all.

Most law enforcement agencies will, when they get the chance, try to confiscate any .50 they can on any excuse they can - 1) to keep such a harmful weapon away from folks who might turn it on them (the rumoured pressence of a .50 rifle at Waco is the reason that tanks were used during the seige) and 2) They are expensive hardware and most forces would like to have more.

Did I say they wouldn't take possession of them? LEO's worldwide try to get their top shooters a .50 rifle, not many can afford it. It really surprises me how many people will hand over a weapon as soon as you flash a badge at them, and then never bother going through the retreival process.

I have had my own barrett confiscated 6 or 7 times after "investigations" at my dwelling. Each time they delayed the process as long as they could - I know for a fact you can match a weapon to a round in less than 2 hours, so "ballistic testing" is just local cop for "I ain't never shot one and I want to." at least when they hold the weapon while they do so. If you are liscenced and registered a quick call to the state's attorney general should handle it nicely, if not, you make a quick call to the DEA being concerned about the possibility of your firearms being "misused" while in custody, as long as everything is legit, you should get your hardware back within a week, or a statement listing the cases they are considering the weapon as "evidence' for.

Sheriff, file your DR1313 on this one, and don't forget to include the serial numbers of the missing weapons. Demons don't use such things, but their human masters, and cultist allies often do.

As you are with the sheriff's office, any sitework done by you or those under you would be considered suspect, you need state or federal personell on that crimescene ASAP. You need someone outside of your chain of influence to record that the firearms are out of your posession, otherwise it is a nearly perfect frame when those weapons get misused.

Yeah Ben, you need to make sure all the legal legwork gets done by the proper authorities, like I had to do after I got raided.

Never underestimate the value a gun has to someone who will never use it as aweapon, at the very least, they know you're down to bare bones now.

I re-do my gear on a regular basis but it revolves around mobility. The group I work with have all come to the same conclusions about it. We use the following generically but augment the basic load with our own additions.
-II, IIA or IIIA vest with the small trauma plate (I go light because I like to move and the IIIA is way to stiff for me)
-9mm semi-auto (Mike and I like the Smith TSW9) with tac-light. No complaints about the round, we use hydro-shoks in a heavy load; remember it is shot placement not bullet size that really counts.
-Tactical drop leg holster with two extra mags, radio holster, handcuffs (to restrain), pepper-spray and a surfire light (not the one on the gun).
-night vision.
-comprehensive first aid kit.
-a lock blade knife, I like a big spiderco with the semi-serrated blade.
-nomex black BDUs; including balaclava & shooting gloves.
-a good pair of side-zip black boots (I like converse because they wear like running shoes and perform great under a wide variety of surfaces).
-a good pair of clear shooting glasses (or goggles).
-a radio with whisper mic (and extra battery).

Additionally I always have a camel back for water, access to a level III vest with rifle plate, kevlar helmet, a 12 ga shotgun, an AR-15, a 100' of rope, a patrol pack (for hauling things or when I will be out in the wilderness for a while), a set of army ACU's (so I can look like a camper if needed), a good pair of binos, a couple of energy bars for food on the run and whatever else I think I might need but traditionally I like to keep everything to a minimum.

If not out on a raid it is normally just a snub revolver (in .357) either on my ankle or on a belt holster with 6-12 extra rounds for "just in case" reasons along with a cell phone (with a camera), sunglasses during the day, a small flashlight at night and a simple lock blade knife always .
