House Calls
A few weeks back, I had some time on my hands, so I booked a flight to D.C. I wanted to check on my former student, and discuss tactics with Ron. Besides, I hadn't been to his new place yet.

PS: I'm sorry again if I offended you . . . that's the word we used for someone of your . . . "complexion" . . . back where I grew up, I didn't know it was such a bad word. I'm never gonna say it again.

OH MY GOD!!!
Hannah, if you said what I THINK you said,...
I've seen people get their butts KILLED for that kind of thing.
And what do you mean, "beating up"? Who would beat up Ei, especially after what she's been going through?

You traded in your wings
For everything freedom brings
You never left me
You never let me
See what this feeling means
Everything that you feel
Is everything that I feel
So when we dream
We shout....

Chill, Angel. The shotgun blast didn't hit anyone, and Hannah didn't say anything I haven't heard before (except for the apology afterward that proved she's her father's daughter.)
My arrival was an awkward moment. People always seem surprised to see me (remember, KT? ), but Loni came out and resolved it. I expect she'll be along soon to add her thoughts about my visit.
As for "beating up"... I'm a martial arts instructor. Before she was born, Loni was my student. During our last outing, I noticed some areas that needed improvement. We lost touch before I could complete her training.
In light of her rebirth, I had to revise my lesson plans to accomodate her new handicaps, so after we finished talking, I began teaching her grappling and ground fighting. Misfortunately, Hannah came in as Loni wrapped her legs around me to put me into the guard.
Again, awkward moment.
After we finish, Loni tells me she can "sense things" and is willing to test it. I'm a little skeptical, so I launch a few lazy jabs, to see if she can respond to them. She did great, so I sent a faster one. That one she trapped with her cane and somehow threw me over her shoulder. Then she dropped onto me, pinning me to the floor and putting the butt of her staff just over my throat. I was like, "'Sense things', huh?"
“You’re holding back, Sifu.” She sounded calm, but forgot to keep the anger off her face.
“Yeah, I—”
“Don’t.” She hopped up and did a backflip to put some distance between us.
"A'ight," I said, springing onto my feet. "Wanna see how crazy this party can get?"
“Certainly. Just don’t bring alcohol.”
My smile was a mile-wide. "Fine by me. Full speed, light contact. Don't step on the cat."
She smiled. “Don’t worry. Mr. Fluffers can take care of himself.”
Shortly afterward was the third awkward moment. BTW, sorry about ruining her shotgun, Ron. I could've straightened out the barrel, but the it would still be weakend and might have an explosive malfunction.

Yeah she and I had a talk about that.
Shotgun was totally inappropriate to the situation, too much chance of accidently htting Eilonwy.
Before anyone says anything about my parenting skills in regards to firearm safety - Hannah is taught how to safely handle firearms. Hannah is taught when it is and isn't appropriate to use a firearm.
Hannah thought that Willie was attacking Eilonwy and retreived the shotgun from the locker to defend her. Willie made a move that made her think she needed to shoot - though in the same move Willie managed to deflect the barrel and my ceiling took the hit.
I've seen Willie move before . . . I'm not sure I would have been able to pull the trigger in time myself - my little girl has somepretty good reflexes.
Your right about the barrel Willie, heck, I'm not sure about the breech on the weapon anymore either so I'm just disposing of it.

Hi Sue,
I didn't know that at the time - but now I do and I won't use that word ever again.
Hannah
PS: Willie is pretty big and muscular - I'm not sure I would have acted that differently to any other guy his size I didn't know suddenly showing up in my house - especially when he grabed Eilonwy.

There’s not much else to tell. Willie and I were sparring, Hannah overreacted. Afterward, I made lunch. Chicken and rice (for me), jello (for Hannah), and for Willie . . . sliced up a pineapple, made some tofu, get out the fruit salad, the green salad, a summer salad, a loaf of bread, a vegetable platter, crackers and cheese and corn on the cob.
Sometimes the only thing to be done is to feel one’s way through the darkness.

By eating a lot of them, Ron.
Don't go to too much trouble. I can always hit a Taco Bell on the way. I tried to dissuade Loni. As if.

Did I mention how wonderful it was to meet Hannah and Loni, what it was like?

Hannah- ever been inside a gas station restroom? Same principle.
Big Willie -Unless you're just eating ten tons of cheese quesadillas, I thought Taco Bell served everything with meat.
And I think for future reference, it's a BAD idea to stop by unannounced at Ron's house.

Don't you remember bean burritos, Angel?
**
Hannah, it's a brightly colored restaurant that serves Mexican food; some things cost less than a dollar.
**
Before the health kick started, Taco Bell was about the only fast-food joint that offered vegetarian choices. Other places have caught up, but they still got the lowest prices, jack.
And when you order as much as I do ....
**
I didn't go over to Ron's unannounced, I couldn't. I didn't know where his new place was. I called first. Loni should post what happened when I arrived.

Might as well return this thread to its origin . . .
Willie called around noon to tell me his plane landed safely and he was on his way over. A half hour later, I heard a knock at the door.
“Good morning -- Loni,” he said with a smile in his voice. “Your new incarnation looks . . . . radiant. You’ve been well, I hope, since we parted?”
I blushed at his words and stepped forward to hug him. “Hello, Willie! It’s so good to hear from you again!” After a second of surprise, his massive arms enveloped me like a bear’s and his chin rested on my head; I had forgotten how immense he was.
“When I read Ron’s memorial, my heart dropped out of my chest. But here you are,” he said, effortlessly lifting me up and regarding me solemnly. “Alive, beyond all our hopes.” He slowly set me back down. I couldn’t stop smiling.
“Who else here I get to greet? I know Ron’s not, an’ more’s the pity, but the posts read like this was party central . . .”
“It’s just Hannah and me. Ron sent the others on their way, though they check up on us every now and then.” I found his hand and pulled him inside and shut the door, asking him questions as I scurried to get him a drink; fruit juice, Hannah’s special blend.
“How have you been? How’s Frog and Red? What are you up to?” I offered him a cup and asked him to sit.
The chair creaked as he leaned back into it. “They’re doin’ good. I’ve retired from bail enforcement. In March I got interviewed by Mr. Sheridan, from Lazlo; askin’ about some of the encounters I posted about. We meet a couple days later, and he’s offerin’ me a job.”
“Really?” I had never heard of Sheridian. “What are you doing now?”
“I'm a field agent of Lazlo now, hunting—things—full-time.”
“Wow, that’s amazing. Congratulations. Do you—”
“Wait, hon. Sorry to interrupt, but your breathing, it’s just—damn. Try doing it this way,” he said, demonstrating the proper way to breathe.
I tried it. I sounded like a wheezing tea kettle. “Sorry. I . . . well, I sound better when I’m meditating. It’s been a long time since I breathed.”
“That’s still better. By the way, how is your meditation going? In one post you mentioned having some difficulties with it.”
“Great. If there has been one thing that comes naturally to me since I became human . . . it’s meditating.”
We continued to talk into the afternoon; I paused it once to fix lunch . . . twelve courses.
